Remote Technical Difficulties Message

Good Afternoon Mustang Remote Families,

We have enjoyed getting to know our remote learners over the past couple of weeks.  As we continue to navigate this new remote learning process we have discovered that some of the procedures we use within our building need to be altered to help better support our remote learners. In this letter, we will be walking through the process of what you will need to do if your student has technological difficulties with their laptop.

Troubleshooting is always one of the best ways to try to fix your student’s device.  Often, simply shutting down your student's laptop will fix the issues you encounter. There are quite a few resources available that may help you troubleshoot at home with your remote learner.  For instance, please follow this link to find links that may be useful to your student, such as a link to our district’s one-to-one laptop information, a google site that has information about the apps your student will use, and a link to MPS Help Desk.

Even though troubleshooting is your first option, there may be times where the device needs to return to the school to be fixed by our technology department. Here are the steps that need to be taken that will help this process run smoothly.

  1. Have your student use the linked directions to write a help desk ticket.
  2. After the completion of submitting a ticket, have your student check their email or the help desk platform for communication from the school.
  3. When directed by our technology department, please bring your student’s laptop to Millard North Middle School to swap your student’s laptop.
    1. Please note that this process may take up to 48 hours to complete.  During this time period, if your student’s device is deemed unusable, they will not be counted absent from school. 

If you are unable to access the internet or another device during this time, please reach out to Ms. Plaza by calling 402-715-1243.  She can assist you in troubleshooting or writing a helpdesk ticket.
