NMS Mission



MISSION STATEMENT

Millard North Middle School, an International Baccalaureate School, guarantees each student will acquire the academic skills necessary for personal excellence and responsible living in a global society by developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring citizens who help create a better world through intercultural understanding and respect. In our world-class educational environment, all students are challenged with engaging and diverse opportunities to become active, compassionate lifelong learners.   

 

Building Objectives:

• All students will meet or exceed District and state standards; the achievement gap between subgroups will decrease annually; and overall performance on district and state assessments will increase annually.   

• Each student will set and achieve challenging educational and career goals tailored to his/her abilities, interests, and aspirations. 

• The percentage of students participating in and performing at high levels on measures of national and international educational excellence will increase annually.

• All students will develop and consistently demonstrate character traits and positive behaviors necessary for personal excellence and responsible citizenship.   

Building Strategies and Specific Results:

1. We will develop and implement plans to increase hope in our students.

  • Create a caring school climate where all MNMS students and staff benefit from a positive relationship with each other.
  • Instill a growth mindset utilizing grit, perseverance, and personal achievement at North Middle School.
2. We will capitalize on being a 1:1 IB MYP school.
  • We will transition to a 1:1 digital learning community.
  • We will enhance fluidity between MPS Practices and IB Practices
  • We will capitalize on our diverse community and demonstrate culturally responsive teaching practices..
3. We will develop and implement programs in cooperation with families and community that develop the character traits that reflect positive social behavior and responsible citizenship.
  • Facilitate the implementation of a school-wide PBiS system while utilizing the existing strengths of Millard North Middle School culture.
  • Maximize family and community involvement, engagement, and support in our PBiS program.
  • Utilize the district's Behavioral Pyramid of Intervention that supports the RtI+I model.
4. We will develop and implement plans to increase achievement levels across all subgroups for all measures.
  • Strengthen co-teaching within Millard North Middle School.
  • Cultivate an engaging academic environment at NMS to increase student achievement.
  • Create a building-wide structure to support students with organization.
